I'm going to India as a volunteer with the Monash Postgraduate Association. A group of 10 students have been asked by Asha (Hindi for the word 'hope') to raise some money as part of our internship with them. They need $7000 in total to send 8 children residing in Delhi's slums to university/college.
Any amount is valuable, no matter how small. Donations are tax deductible if made by cheque. While I'm there, I'll be running after-school care programs for the children which includes teaching English, playing games and giving the older students advice on education opportunities. ASHA is one of the reputable charities in India and has a high profile in America, Australia and England. A large part of India's current plight (it has the world's largest number of poor) is due to destructive socialist policies but changing policies takes time and in the short-term direct financial assistance is needed. I hope to hear from you with any questions or concerns. CLICK HERE TO DONATE
